State Trooper Shoots 2 During Thursday Night Taxi Robbery

The incident unfolded Thursday night on Chicago's South Side, reports the Chicago Tribune and CBS Chicago.

CHICAGO, IL — An Illinois State Trooper shot two passengers in the back of a taxi who were robbing the driver Thursday night, reports the Chicago Tribune, citing a source. The shooting in the 7700 block of South Vincennes Avenue took place at about 8:30 p.m. as the trooper was conducting a traffic stop. The taxi driver pulled up and told the trooper he was being robbed, according to the Tribune account, and shortly thereafter the shooting began.

Three shots were fired, reports CBS 2 Chicago, when the trooper tried to remove the suspects from the back seat of the taxi.
