Teens Charged In Beating, Phone Robbery At CTA Platform Near IIT
Three 17-year-old boys are accused of attacking a 19-year-old over the weekend, according to Chicago police.

CHICAGO, IL — Three teenage boys face felony robbery charges after being accused of beating and stealing a cellphone from another teenager over the weekend at a South Side CTA platform near the Illinois Institute of Technology, according to Chicago police. One of the 17-year-olds also was charged with misdemeanor battery in the alleged attack, and the boys are scheduled to appear in juvenile court Monday.
The incident happened at around 8:09 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, at the 35th Street Green Line platform, police said. The three teens approached the 19-year-old victim and asked him for money.
When the victim refused to hand over his money, the teens allegedly began beating him, according to police. During the attack, the teens grabbed the victim's cellphone and forced him to type in the phone's password, police said.

The teens then fled the platform after the victim entered the password, but safety officers from the Illinois Institute of Technology were able to find and detain the trio, police said.
