Would-Be Robber, South Side Store Worker Shoot, Kill One Another: CPD
Police said that a 24-year-old man pulled out a gun at the El Barakah grocery store and exchanged gunfire with a store worker.

CHICAGO — A man who walked into a South Shore neighborhood grocery store with the intention of robbing the business on Friday night was shot and killed, along with the store worker who shot the gunman, according to reports.
Chicago Police said a man walked into the El Barakah grocery store around 6:20 p.m. Friday, and pulled out a gun, the Sun-Times reported. A store worker, who was identified as Ali Hasan, 63, witnessed the man pulling out the gun and shot him, police said.
According to police, Hasan had a concealed carry license and took a handgun from his waistband, firing it at the robber. The man robbing the store shot back and hit Hasan in the chest and the back. Police said that the armed robber died about a block from the store after he ran from the scene, then collapsed.

Three guns were found at the scene of the store, located near 73rd Street and Coles Avenue, police said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the would-be robber as Nicholas Williams, 24, who the Sun-Times reported lived in the neighborhood.
