1 Airlifted With Injuries After Crash On Route 38 In Kane County

A Honda headed east on Route 38 crossed the center line and was hit head-on by a semi headed west, according to the sheriff's office.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's office said deputies were called to a crash on Route 38 at 5:25 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Watson Road in unincorporated Virgil Township. According to early investigation, a Honda was headed east on Route 38 and for an unknown reason crossed the center line and was hit head-on by a freightliner semi headed west, a news release from the sheriff's office said. The driver of the Honda was airlifted to St Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford with potential life threatening injuries, the release said, and the driver of the semi was uninjured.

The person driving the Honda was the only person in the car during the crash, according to the sheriff's office.

Route 38 between Meredith Road and Watson Road was closed while the crash was investigated, according to the news release.

It's not clear if drugs, alcohol or distracted driving played a role in the crash, and no one has been cited, according to the sheriff's office.
