4,861 Cases, 34 Deaths In St. Charles Since Pandemic’s Start
More than 3,600 coronavirus cases were reported in St. Charles between Oct. 1 and Jan. 31 amid a huge surge throughout the state.
ST. CHARLES, IL — St. Charles is closing in on its 5,000th coronavirus case as it prepares to mark one year since recording its first, public health data shows.
St. Charles reported its first coronavirus case on March 13. By the end of September six and a half months later, the city had 1,073 total cases, according to statistics from the Kane County Health Department.

Much like the rest of Illinois, new coronavirus cases started to surge in St. Charles in early October.
The city’s seven-day rolling average of new cases stood at about 6.4 at the start of October but soared over the next six weeks, reaching an all-time high of more than 63 on Nov. 8, according to public health data.

District 303 Board Picks Lackner To Fill Vacant Seat
More than 3,600 new cases were reported in St. Charles between Oct. 1 and Jan. 31, which represents nearly 75 percent of the city’s 4,861 total cases, as of Wednesday.
The city’s seven-day rolling average of new cases was down to about 5.7 on Wednesday, a drop of more than 90 percent from its peak in November.
Thirty-four St. Charles residents have died from coronavirus-related conditions since the start of the pandemic last spring. At least 29 deaths have been linked to long-term-care facilities in the city, including 14 at Dunham Rehab and Healthcare, public health data shows.
