'America in Bloom' Judges Come to St. Charles Monday, Tuesday

Be sure your yard is neat and tidy when two judges responsible for bestowing environmental and preservation awards visit the city.

St. Charles is putting its best face forward this month, as two notable visitors are making their way to town.

A pair of "America in Bloom" judges are slated to visit July 11 and 12, according to a city news release. The American in Bloom national awards program recognizes communities for their environmental efforts, historical preservation and community involvement. This is the second year St. Charles has participated in the program.

The judges will tour St. Charles to review floral displays and landscaped areas, along with heritage preservation, urban forestry and environmental efforts. They also will be paying attention to the overall impression the community conveys, "so be sure to tidy up your yard on judging days," officials urge.

“We are so excited to welcome the judges to St. Charles,” said America in Bloom Committee Member Diane Cullen. “The America in Bloom Committee and all the volunteers have been working hard for the last few months to ready our city for this honor. We’re hoping to build on last year’s award of 4 out of 5 ‘Blooms’.”
