Authorities ID Elgin Man Killed In St. Charles Crash

Police were first called to the single-vehicle collision at about 3:40 p.m. on November 18 in the 100 block of South Kirk Road.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 66-year-old Elgin man was killed in a crash in St. Charles last week, authorities said.

Manuel Barraza of Elgin died in the November 18 single-vehicle crash in the 100 block of South Kirk Road, authorities said.

Police were first called to the collision at about 3:40 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a GMC SUV, which was next to a tree, on the west side of South Kirk Road, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.

The driver was unresponsive, and was taken to Delnor Hospital where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police the SUV was headed north in the southbound lanes of South Kirk Road when it went off the road and hit a sign and then a tree.

The St. Charles Police Department is asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to contact police at 630-377-4435.
