Chicago Man Accused Of Hitting Woman With Car In Kane County
Cameron R. Dunmars, 24, faces several charges after police said he also hit the woman in the face while she was driving on Plank Rd. Monday.

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, IL — A Chicago man faces several charges stemming from accusations he hit a woman with her car and drove away following a a domestic-related incident Monday morning on Plank Road. According to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's office, early investigation shows the woman was driving her car eastbound on Plank Road just east of Burlington Road when she and the man, who was a passenger in the car, began arguing. Cameron R. Dunmars, 24, from the 9900 South block of Normal Avenue in Chicago, is accused of hitting the woman in the face while she was driving, causing her to become disoriented and unable to see, the sheriff's office said.
The woman pulled the car over just before Dunmars came around to the driver's side and pulled her out of the car, according to the news release. The woman was standing in front of her car when Dunmars put the car in drive and hit her, the sheriff's office added, according to early investigation. She was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said.
Sheriff's deputies were called at 9:30 a.m. Monday to the area of the 47 West 500 block of Plank Road for a report of a someone who was hit by a car that left the area and was headed eastbound, according to the news release. Witnesses followed the car while updating deputies on the location. Deputies were able to locate the car outside of Elgin, and pulled Dunmars over at U.S. Highway 20 and Coombs Road, the sheriff's office added.

The sheriff's office also said the Gilberts Police Department helped locate and stop the car, and would like to thank the department.
The Kane County State's Attorney's office approved the following charges against Dunmars:

- Felony vehicular hijacking
- Felony aggravated battery
- Felony leaving the scene of an injury accident
- Misdemeanor domestic battery
- Misdemeanor reckless conduct
- Misdemeanor trespass to a motor vehicle
