Compassionate Euthanasia Considered For COVID-Era Pets In Kane Co.

The plan would allow owners to end their pets life through sedation, lethal injection and cremation at a cost of $100.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Officials in Kane County may offer low-cost euthanasia services to handle an influx of COVID-19 era pets that may not have been properly socialized and have become aggressive.

Kane County Animal Control Executive Director Brett Youngsteadt suggested the services at a recent county board meeting. The plan would allow owners to end their pets life through sedation, lethal injection and cremation at a cost of $100, according to the Daily Herald.

There's been a high demand for the services. Pets purchased during COVID spent a lot of time around owners and indoors and now residents have been calling looking for cost-effective ways to euthanize them since they were never exposed to other animals and people and also not properly trained amid lock-down, according to the article.
