ST. CHARLES, IL — A local crowd favorite could return as part of the Heart of the Fox fundraising event being held in June. According to the Kane County Chronicle, plans to bring dragon boat races to the third year of the event, previously known as the Bob Leonard 5K/10K/Color Run, are moving forward. At a Jan. 21 meeting, alderman on the St. Charles City Council's Government Operations Committee recommended approval of a request for a $27,000 funding from the Pride of the Fox organization, part of which would be used for the dragon boat races, and other various expenses, according to city finance director Chris Minick, the news report said.

The races stood out among other parts of the Pride of the Fox RiverFest, which was renamed Festival of the Fox and was last held in 2017.The fundraising event will be held on June 13 and June 14 in Pottawatomie Park, and is organized by the River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles and the St. Charles Kiwanis.
