Naperville Woman Killed Tuesday In St. Charles Crash: Police

A 60-year-old Naperville woman died Tuesday when her vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a tractor-trailer, police said.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 60-year-old Naperville woman was killed Tuesday morning in a crash that left two others hospitalized, according to St. Charles police. Moira Simpson was pronounced dead at the location of the crash, which occurred at about 7:50 a.m. on Kirk Road near Ohio Avenue, police said.

According to police, Simpson was driving north on Kirk Road before she crossed into the southbound lanes. Her car hit the side of a vehicle traveling south before colliding head-on with a tractor-trailer, police said in a news release.

The driver and a passenger in the first car Simpson’s vehicle struck were transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, and the truck driver was treated by paramedics at the location of the crash and released, police said.

St. Charles police said Tuesday afternoon that they are still investigating the crash. Both roads have reopened to traffic, according to police.
