Holiday Traffic Safety Detail Complete

From St. Charles Police Department: The St. Charles Police Department recently completed the holiday enforcement period in connection with the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket traffic safety campaigns.

Additional patrol officers were assigned to enforcement details centered on the busy holiday travel season at night time hours when impaired driving is more likely to occur. This was done in cooperation with, and funded by, the Illinois Department of Transportation. This initiative is part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic related injuries and fatalities.

The enforcement details were held on the nights of December 23rd and December 31st. St. Charles Officers assigned to the extra patrols made 3 DUI arrests (including 1 Zero-Tolerance arrest), issued 1 citation for speeding, and 5 citations for other offenses. Detail officers also issued 4 written warning tickets for various equipment and other violations.
