ST. CHARLES, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office said three of their corrections officers were assaulted Monday morning, leading to what they describe as a massive shakedown and response from their Corrections Response Team and Kendall County’s CRT. According to WSPY, the three officers were injured in an attack involving two inmates, causing two of the officers to be hospitalized.

Sheriff's officials said two inmates out of their cells refused commands to lock down after recreational time, WSPY reported, adding that officers also ended up responding in an effort to convince the inmates to comply.

However, officials claim one of the inmates attacked one of the officers as they tried to escort him to his cell before the second inmate attacked one of the other officers, WSPY reported.

According to officials, both inmates were handcuffed and taken to separate cells as they did not need medical help, according to WSPY.

"Special thanks to my good friend and partner Sheriff Dwight Baird. Laying a hand on one of our officers is never a good idea," Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said in a Facebook post.
