Local Forest Preserve Undergoing 'Transformative' Renovations
Several updates are coming to Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve in South Elgin.
SOUTH ELGIN, IL — Renovations got underway this past week at Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve in South Elgin.
The "transformative" upgrades will include parking lot repairs and improvements near the trolley station and riverfront, new shelters and restroom facilities, and realignment of bike trails to enhance accessibility to the River Bend Trail, according to a news release from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County
The renovation project will also include installation of a new ADA-accessible boat and kayak launch, according to a news release.

The forest preserve is slated to reopen in early September.
