Outdoor Patio Heater to Blame for St. Charles Fire

The fire, in the 100 block of Shoreline Court, caused $10,000 damage.

An outdoor patio heater that was improperly placed is to blame for a St. Charles house fire, the Kane County Chronicle is reporting.

Firefighters responded to the fire on Friday night at about 8:40 p.m.

When firefighter arrived by 8:46 p.m., they found a fire that involved the exterior wall of the home that adjoins the back yard deck.

“The fire had traveled up to the roof and into the concealed spaces in the soffit area,” the Chronicle reported. “Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in approximately 10 minutes, however remained on the scene until 10 p.m. to make sure the fire had not spread.”

A neighbor saw the fire and called 911.
