ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles Business Alliance’s new “Be You” sculpture has drawn hundreds, if not thousands, of people downtown since it was installed about two weeks ago, but likely none more famous than Paris Hilton.

The celebrity hotel heiress posted a photo Monday on Instagram that showed her sitting atop the sculpture. The post had been viewed nearly 800,000 times by Wednesday morning, shining an online spotlight on the city and the business alliance two-week-old sculpture.

“We are so excited to see so many individuals taking pictures with the Be You Sculpture,” the St. Charles Business Alliance wrote Tuesday in a Facebook post about Hilton’s photo. “The purpose of the positive sculpture is to engage the whole community in art & positivity. You never know who will see it and who it will have an immediate effect on.”

The St. Charles Business Alliance contracted Chicago artist Matthew Hoffman to create the sculpture as part of its "Back to Business" plan to support the city's businesses amid the coronavirus pandemic. The sculpture was installed July 28.
