Pawn Stars Toy Collector Appraising Vintage Toys In St. Charles

Listen up 80s babies, you’ve got a chance to cash in on those old toys Tuesday when celebrity toy collector Joel Magee makes a stop in St. Charles.

Magee, dubbed America’s Toy Scout, will bring his traveling antique toy roadshow to the Country Marriott, 700 Courtyard Dr., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Magee, who has appeared on the History Channel’s show Pawn Stars as a vintage toy appraiser, has been buying, appraising, and selling vintage toys and other pre-mid 80s items for more than 20 years.

He specializes in collecting Barbies, Hot Wheels cars, Star Wars action figures, comic books and Pez dispensers. He said he also owns the largest private collection of Disney props and collectibles in the world.

Sellers can choose no-contact, drive-up service where appraisers evaluate and buy toys from sellers curbside, or sellers can visit banquet rooms to meet with appraisers.

The Iowa native said he spent childhood winters inside, playing with some of his favorite toys. He began collecting vintage lunch boxes in the mid-80s, fueling his passion for toy collecting.

On Tuesday, hopeful sellers are expected to descend on the hotel looking to make some cash off of their old stash.
