Authorities say "McMullen reasonably should have known that the depictions were of children under 13 years of age, and in some cases much younger," according to the news release.
Prosecutors say McMullen violated the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act by failing to register as a sex offender and providing false residency information to the Elgin Police Department.
