Property Tax Increase On Horizon For St. Charles Residents
Here's when a public hearing on the proposed tax levy will be held.
ST. CHARLES, IL — Alderman approved a nearly $23 million property tax levy for 2019 during a Monday St. Charles City Council meeting, according to Kane County Chronicle. That number represents an increase of 9.5 percent from 2019, according to the recommendation prepared by St. Charles Finance Director Chris Minick.
"The levy amount presented represents an approximate 9.5% increase from the prior year, due to a proposed increase in the operating as well as the debt service portion of the levy," according to Minick's memo.
For example, according to meeting documents, the owner of a $400,000 property would experience an increase of $20.45 for the year or $1.70 per month.
