Pumpkin Composting Event Planned In St. Charles

The St. Charles Natural Resources Commission is hosting its annual Pumpkin Smash event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the St. Charles Public Works Facility, 1405 South 7th Avenue.

Those stopping out can toss, smash, roll or simply drop off pumpkins to be composted.

Those brining their pumpkins should remove non-biodegradable materials, such as candles, plastic stickers and yarn, to avoid contaminating organic materials collected for composting, according to a news release.
