Scarecrow Stroll To Bring Safe Scares To St. Charles This Weekend

The Scarecrow Stroll will replace the St. Charles Business Alliance's Halloween festival this year due to coronavirus-related restrictions.

ST. CHARLES, IL — Most public events have been canceled for the past seven months, but many organizations have found new ways to safely enjoy at least some Halloween fun this year during the coronavirus pandemic.

The St. Charles Business Alliance is replacing its annuals scarecrow festival with a Scarecrow Stroll,” which is set to run from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, according to a news release.

The new event will feature a contest pitting more than 50 businesses, groups and residents to see who can create the best scarecrows. Residents who take the Scarecrow Stroll can vote for their favorite creations.

A downtown scavenger hunt throughout the weekend will feature specials from businesses in the area, and residents can stop by a fall photo op behind the former BMO Harris Bank, the release states. A “scarecrow in a box” kit will also be available for residents to buy.

Craft beer boxes are available for pre-order, with each featuring seasonal beers from St. Charles breweries. Residents can pick up their beer boxes from 3-7 p.m. Friday at D & G Brewing Co. and from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at Pollyanna Brewing Co.

The St. Charles History Museum is set to host live pumpkin-carving from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the release states.
