'See Something, Say Something': Reminder From St. Charles Police
The St. Charles Police Department issues reminders for residents regarding crime prevention, scams and more for 2020.
ST. CHARLES, IL — A new year is underway, and the St. Charles Police Department encourages residents to continue helping with crime prevention efforts, in addition to being aware of scams. In its latest newsletter, the St. Charles Police Department is urging residents to be the "eyes and ears" of the department, as crime prevention is everybody's business.
The department said officers are never bothered or annoyed by calls reporting suspicious activity, as investigating and checking up are a police officer's job. Therefore, the department said, "If you see something, say something!"
In St. Charles, police said call 911 to report any incident in progress. You can also call 911 for any incident that happened a couple of hours or days prior, or you can call the police department's anonymous tip line at 866-DRUG-COP (for any tip, not just tips about drug activity), or report it online.

The police department also urges residents to know when a scam is taking place, specifically scams claiming "you've won" a prize, money, lottery, trip, sweepstakes, or something else.
According to police, the scam can come in the form of a card, email, call, and will ask you to hand over your credit card information, wire money or hand over your bank information due to a fee, taxes, customs duties, or other amounts to pay. If you provide that information, you'll lose money instead of winning it, so police urge you to never share your financial information or wire money to someone who contacts you and asks you to. In addition, police urge you to hang up and pass this information on to a friend, as a friendly reminder. >> More information
