KANE COUNTY, IL — The driver and several passengers on a Northern Illinois University bus were taken to the hospital after the bus collided with a car on Route 38 in Kane County Sunday night. The driver of the car was also critically injured, police said.
A 25-year-old St. Charles woman was driving the 2021 Hyundai Venue north on Francis Road in Virgil Township at about 8:40 p.m. and turning onto eastbound Route 38 when the car collided with the bus. Authorities say the Hyundai made a wide right turn headed east and ended up in the westbound lane.
The bus, which was headed west, was not able to avoid hitting the car and collided with it head on, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
