St. Charles Man, 31, Killed In Head-On Crash Into Utility Pole: Cops
The crash happened on Route 64 near Anderson Road in St. Charles Township early Friday, police said.
ST. CHARLES, IL — A 31-year-old St. Charles man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Route 64 near St. Charles.
The Kane County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision at about 1:30 a.m. Friday and found a red 2007 Mercedes Benz C280 in a ditch off Route 64 at Anderson Road in St. Charles Township, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Authorities say the Mercedes was likely headed east on Route 64 when it went off the roadway just east of Anderson Road and hit the utility pole. The driver, who has been identified as Alexander Enskat, was killed in the collision.

Enskat, of the 40W300 block of Wendell Oliver Holmes Street in St. Charles, was the only person in the car and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. Police say that speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
