St. Charles Man Gets 10 Years For Stabbing Neighbor In The Neck
Randy Wilson, 67, agreed to a plea deal for a lesser charge after prosecutors said he stabbed another man in the neck during a dispute.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 67-year-old St. Charles man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison as part of a plea deal for a lesser charge in connection with the stabbing of another man in the neck, prosecutors announced on Thursday.
Randy L. Wilson was sentenced on the offense of armed violence after he was initially charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, the Kane County State’s Attorney's office said. The sentencing took place after Wilson agreed to the plea deal after prosecutors said that he stabbed a 38-year-old man in the neck in June 2021.
Wilson and the victim were outside a St. Charles apartment complex on June 5 when the two men began to argue, prosecutors said. When the dispute became physical, prosecutors said that Wilson went home and got a 12-inch carving knife and then returned and lunged at the man, slashing him in the neck. The stabbing left the victim with a 4-inch gash and caused severe bleeding, prosecutors said.

“These men were friends at the time of this violent and inexplicable attack. They also had been drinking alcohol, which seems to be the only explanation for Mr. Wilson’s bizarre overreaction,” Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Jessica Michaels said. “I am grateful the victim’s injuries weren’t worse.”
