St. Charles Man Sentenced For Sex Assault Of Child

ST. CHARLES, IL — A St. Charles man has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a child. According to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office, Kane County Circuit Judge John A. Barsanti sentenced Ricardo Ramirez, 39, from the 0-10 North block of Woodlawn Avenue, to 14 years Monday in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Prior to the sentencing hearing, Judge Barsanti found Ramirez guilty of felony aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child, the news release said, adding that Ramirez waived his right to a jury trial.
Judge Barsanti heard the case Friday during a stipulated bench trial, according to the state's attorney's office. Kane County Assistant State’s Attorneys Mark D. Stajdohar and Jake Matekaitis presented evidence that between March 2012 and March 2013 Ramirez sexually assaulted the victim, who was younger than 13 years old, according to the news release.
The Kane County Child Advocacy Center investigated the case, the state's attorney's office added.

Ramirez must also register for life as a sex offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act, the state's attorney's office said.
