St. Charles Man Who Accidentally Shot Geneva Man In Head Gets Prison Time: Reports

He will serve up to four years in prison and pay $22,528 in restitution, the Daily Herald reported.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A St. Charles man will serve prison time after he accidentally shot someone in the head in 2021 and pleaded guilty Friday to related charges, according to reports.

Jacob W. Krueger pleaded guilty to reckless conduct and cannabis possession with intent to deliver, according to the Daily Herald, which reported the 24-year-old was sentenced to three years for the reckless conduct charge and four years for the drug charge, to be served concurrently. He must serve at least 50 percent of the prison sentence and pay $22,528 in restitution, the Herald reported.

Krueger unintentionally struck the 20-year-old Geneva man on July 15, 2021, according to the Kane County Chronicle, which reported he called 911 and emergency personnel responded mid-afternoon to the 200 block of North Tyler Road. The men had been handling a 9 mm gun when Krueger discharged it accidentally, according to the Chronicle.

The victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition and police found numerous firearms and marijuana at the address, the newspaper reported.
