Incumbent Lora Vitek faced challenger Clint Hull, a retired judge, in Tuesday's local election.

ST. CHARLES, IL — Clint Hull, a retired judge, appears poised to be elected mayor of St. Charles, according to unofficial election results.
With all precincts reporting as of 8 a.m., Hull lead over incumbent Lora Vitek, who has served one term as mayor. According to unofficial results, Hull had 4,696 votes, or 59% of the vote total, and Vitek had 3,281 votes.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, Vitek conceded to Hull and thanked the community for allowing her to serve as mayor for the past four years.

"While we did not achieve the result we hoped for last night, I am forever grateful for your support and proud of the professional and positive campaign that we ran. I'm equally proud of all that my administration accomplished in just four short years," she wrote. "St. Charles is a more vibrant and economically sound community than when I took office, and despite the outcome tonight, my energy and enthusiasm for St. Charles will never wane and I will bring both to any future projects I take on."
Voters in Kane County headed to the polls on April 1 to make their picks in this year's local election, which features village board, township board, school board and mayoral races.

Vitek also wished Hull the best in his first term as mayor.
In recent weeks, Hull responded to a candidate questionnaire sent by Patch.com and detailed his plans if elected as mayor. Hull said the most pressing issues facing the St. Charles community are infrastructure upgrades, economic redevelopment and energy sustainability.
The redevelopment of the Charlestowne Mall and the old police station site would also be a priority for Hull if he is elected to mayor.
"I will work collaboratively with developers, surrounding cities and stakeholders to craft viable and innovative plans that meet community needs and stimulate economic vitality," he said.
All results tallied on election night are unofficial. Official results are not tallied until all provisional and vote-by-mail ballots are in and counted, and then certified, usually 14 days after Election Day.
