St. Charles Police Prepare For Upcoming Move To New Facility

The Daily Herald reported that the police department is expected to move to the new W. Main Street headquarters next week.

ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles Police Department will officially have a new home next week on the west side of town, away from its current spot along the Fox River, the Daily Herald reported. The new police headquarters is 56,000 square feet and sits at 1515 W. Main Street, according to the news report. St. Charles Police Department Deputy Chief Erik Mahan told the Daily Herald the new layout has some "great spaces" for members of the public.

The new, two-story space will also feature a wellness center and training room for police employees, modern layout with private and communal workspaces, second-floor community room for public use, and a squad garage with a drive-in bay.

In addition to community space, the design of the city's new police headquarters spotlights workflow and equipment, and doesn't include a "maze of hallways" like the current police station. The Daily Herald adds that the police department is expected to move to the new W. Main Street headquarters next Thursday through Saturday.
