St. Charles Police Take Part in Speed Awareness Day

The local police department will join agencies from across the state in keeping an eye out for speeders on Wednesday.

ST. CHARLES, IL — The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP) has asked Governor J.B. Pritzker to proclaim Wednesday, July 24, 2019, Illinois Speed Awareness Day with the goal of encouraging the public to recognize the importance of speed awareness and driving safely. The ILACP, partnered with FACES4, is coordinating the 3rd ISAD and are supported by ISP, Tollway, IDOT, Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, Illinois Truck Enforcement Association, Illinois High School and College Driver’s Education, AAA, and Illinois local and county law enforcement agencies and first responders have committed to take a proactive approach to promote safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists through enforcement and education, city officials in St. Charles said. The agencies will share information about the dangers of speeding, and the possible consequences speeding can have, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.
