St. Charles Students Make National Merit Scholarship Semifinals
Nine students from District 303 high schools qualified for the semifinals of the National Merit Scholarship Program.
ST. CHARLES, IL — Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program competition include nine students from St. Charles high schools. The city’s semifinalists include three from St. Charles East High School and six from St. Charles North High School.
The nationwide pool of 16,000 semifinalists, which represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

Semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program have an opportunity to continue in the competition for about 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth a total of more than $30 million that will be offered next spring.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation, a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
