St. Charles Tops 1K Coronavirus Cases; 10 Deaths
More than half of the city's coronavirus cases have been recorded since the start of August, public health data shows.
ST. CHARLES, IL — St. Charles’ coronavirus case total surged past 1,000 toward the end of September, largely fueled by a significant increase in cases over the previous eight weeks.
As of Thursday, 1,037 city residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health. More than half of those cases — 548 — were recorded in August and September, the data shows.

Coronavirus cases grew significantly throughout the month of August, with 349 cases recorded that month. Just under 200 cases were recorded among St. Charles residents in September, according to public health data.

Though cases fell significantly over the past month, St. Charles’ September case total was 10 percent higher than in July and more than double June’s case total.
St. Charles saw its largest single-day increase Aug. 24, when 42 cases were recorded, the state’s data shows.
Ten St. Charles residents have died from coronavirus-related conditions since the start of the pandemic in March, public health data shows. At least four deaths have been linked to coronavirus outbreaks at long-term-care facilities, according to IDPH statistics.
