St. Charles Woman Dies in Head-On Crash With Semitrailer

A 74-year-old St. Charles resident was pronounced dead at Delnor Hospital on Thursday after her vehicle was hit by an oncoming semitrailer.

A senior citizen was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon after sustaining injuries in a four-vehicle crash near St. Charles.

The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. when a Mitsubishi Outlander heading east on Route 64 at Cibis Road stopped behind a vehicle waiting to turn right, reported the Chicago Sun-Times, citing the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

A Toyota Highlander then stopped behind the Mitsubishi and an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado rear-ended it.

The Toyota was sent into the westbound lane, where it was struck by an oncoming semitrailer, the story says. Its driver, 74-year-old Janice Willenborg, of St. Charles, was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva and pronounced dead.

Other involved drivers also suffered injuries.
