Time To Dump That Old Television?
Kane County is hosting a recycling event on March 14.

From 8 a.m. to noon March 14, Kane County will host a recycling and document shredding event at 540 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.
The following electronics can be recycled:
- Computers
- Keyboards
- Laptops
- Printers
- Televisions (any size or age)
- Stereos
- Cell phones
- Microwaves
- Christmas lights
Crews will be on hand to help those donating items unload their vehicles. A full list of accepted items is available.

For the paper shredding event, participants can bring confidential documents in paper bags or boxes to be shredded. There is a limit of four boxes. The document shredding is for residents only, and no business documents will be accepted.
In addition, the county will take any book for reuse or recycling.

All of the above recycling is free for residents, but recycling liquid latex paint will cost residents $2 per pint, $3.50 per gallon, and $10 per 5-gallon bucket. Latex paint is non-toxic but difficult to dispose of normally because it has to dry it out before placing it in your landfill trash. However, it can be easily recycled into new products with no drying out necessary. No oil based products will be accepted.
The County does not accept hazardous waste or large household appliances like washers and refrigerators.
