Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will host a free tutor training workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, September 9, 11, 16, and 18 at the St. Charles Public Library.
Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helps adults communicate in English by matching them with trained volunteer tutors one-to-one. After training, you will meet with your learner for one hour each week at a time and public location that is convenient – usually local libraries.
The number of adults seeking English language instruction has exploded; about 40 adults are waiting to learn.

Volunteers do not need a teaching background or a second language to be effective. The workshop provides material and instruction so anyone can help. Learners say that the best volunteers are patient, listen, and give practical information. Our program manager provides on-going support.
