Greg Wittstock, who is known as the "pond guy" at Aquascape," will lead the event and has spent years traveling the world to document, build, and promote aquatic features. Wittstock emphasizes the need for better planting and care of waterlilies—an often-overlooked component of pond ecosystems.

The event aims to kickstart a national movement celebrating the ecological and aesthetic importance of aquatic plants, according to Aquascape officials.
