• Western Springs Flooding Blamed On Blocked Drains In Part (patch.com) — Western Springs officials say Thursday night’s widespread street flooding was worsened by storm drains clogged with leaves and debris after an early snowstorm cut leaf collection short. The village mobilized public works, police, and fire crews to relieve flooding and is now reviewing its storm and leaf pickup response, asking residents for feedback to improve future preparedness.
   

• Four from FC Dallas called into combined US U18, U19, and U20 camp (3rddegree.net) — One of the young players headed to a U.S. Men’s Youth National Team camp in Arizona is midfielder Peter Soudan, who hails from Western Springs and plays for Michigan State. He’ll join top prospects from MLS academies and colleges nationwide for a combined U18–U20 training camp January 10–16, giving a local player valuable exposure on the national stage.
