Patch Roundup: Forced-Prostitution Arrests, Gold Bars Still Missing

Spooky story out of Burr Ridge this week as a woman reports being held in a hotel against her will by repeat prostitution offenders and being forced to “do things she didn’t want to do.” Thankfully, text messages and friends appear to have saved the day, gotten the victim to safety and landed the pimps—if that is indeed what they are—in the clink.

Further west, the manager of a Glen Ellyn jewelry store has been charged in the mysterious and unsolved disappearance of over $200,000 in gold bars. Hey, anyone seen about 15 gold bars floating around? We can imagine that the store would really like to have them back...

Burr Ridge——A woman was allegedly held against her will in a Burr Ridge hotel this week. The two people accused of assaulting her are repeat offenders, who have a history of being involved in prostitution.

Glen Ellyn—Fifteen gold bars are still missing from Costello Jewelry located in downtown Glen Ellyn.

Batavia——The passenger of the car that barreled through a stop sign and crashed into trees at Dodson and Bennett streets Friday told police that the 20-year-old driver fell asleep at the wheel.

Lisle——Margo Urban's four daughters kept good on a resolution to "do something big" for their mom by securing their childhood home a renovation on Meg Caswell's "Great Rooms."

St. Charles——Anna Michele Daley, a member of the St. Charles East girl's golf team, lost a fight with leukemia Tueday night. Daley, a junior at East, diagnosed with cancer in August. Her teammates played this season with "Anna" stitched on the right sleeves of their golf shirts.

Elmhurst—Residential burglaries have been reported in Elmhurst several times a week for months. The capture and conviction of Antonio White may reduce those incidents.

Western Springs——Catherine A. Dolhide was arrested and charged with a Class 4 felony after an L.A. Tan employee noticed a suspicious substance left on the business' counter.

Geneva——In a classic case of historic preservation versus downtown revitalization, new plans would turn the historic "English cottage style" gas station on Lincoln Highway into a bank drive-through.
