St. Charles——After a six-month-long investigation, a 56-year-old St. Charles woman was charged with financial exploitation of the elderly, forgery and felony theft, police said.

Burr Ridge——Federal charges have been filed against now defunct Mastro Auctions in connection with a case involving the alteration of a rare baseball card.

Oak Park/River Forest——Ellis Coleman, the Oak Park River Forest High School graduate known for his his Flying Squirrel move, is in London getting ready to take on all comers in his 60-kilogram weight class on Aug. 6.

Geneva——America's cutest couple, Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher and model/talk show host/Playboy centerfold Jenny McCarthy, are out and about in Geneva. McCarthy moved from Los Angeles and is living in the sleepy suburb these days.

Algonquin——Julia Vojtsek was in Colorado visiting her father when she went to see a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises." She said John T. Larimer of Crystal Lake shielded her during the attack that killed him and 11 other people.

Elmhurst——State's Attorney's Office says accused killer Todd Mandoline was a former boyfriend of the victim.

Western Springs——Among the arboreal casualties of Tuesday morning's violent storm was this majestic 200+-year-old oak, which fell partially through the front of an Old Town North home.

Batavia—Report: Anna Li of Aurora Injured, Pulled From U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Competition—A neck injury takes the Tri-Cities area's closest representative off the U.S. Olympic team.

Wheaton——A man who worked as a live-in babysitter in Wheaton was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison for transporting and possessing child pornography.

Lisle——Gerald Lombardi and his son, Jerry, of Downers Grove, were charged along with former Cook County Commissioner Joseph Mario Moreno, former Chicago Alderman Ambrosio Medrano and other suburban businessmen.

Downers Grove——Jim Stavropoulos said he plans to open a new restaurant in Schaumburg and to sue the village of Downers Grove.

Glen Ellyn——The Village of Glen Ellyn is still in the process of assessing the amount of damage and the costs incurred related to the freak storm that hit earlier in July, but costs associated with the storm could reach $300,000.

La Grange/La Grange Park——La Grange has been selected the No. 1 top transit suburb of Metropolitan Chicago, according to a study released today by the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development based at DePaul University in Chicago.

Hinsdale/Clarendon Hills—'—Ms. Retzel died last weekend at age 99; she ran Retzel Jewelry with her husband Arthur for 37 years.
