First through fourth graders ran drills and games in the park's southwest corner on Thursday afternoon; Patch brought a camera.
The sport of lacrosse has taken off with American youth by leaps and bounds over the past 15 or so years, especially in the Midwest, and Western Springs is no exception.
About two dozen first- through fourth-graders were out in southwestern Spring Rock Park on Thursday afternoon practicing their skills in younger of the two classes of the Western Springs Recreation Department's summer lacrosse camp. Drills included shooting practice and battling an opponent for ball control, before the session wrapped up with a lacrosse-themed game of "Sharks and Minnows."
As we are wont to do, Patch dropped by with a camera. Check out some of our shots above!
