Western Springs Stormwater Projects Coming Soon: Official
The first project is expected to start in the spring, the other one "a little bit later."

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs officials have long planned stormwater projects in two flood-prone neighborhoods.
Last year, the Village Board enacted a stormwater fee, which makes the work possible.
The projects are in the Springdale and Ridgewood neighborhoods, which are, respectively, in the village's southwest and southeast corners.

At Monday's Village Board meeting, the village's finance director, John Mastandona, said the $5.2 million Springdale project is slated to start in the spring and the $2.4 million Ridgewood project would begin "a little bit later."
Debt for the projects will be paid back with the stormwater fee, which is assessed on properties across town, Mastandona said.

In Springdale, Western Springs plans to build new storm sewers that would go to Springdale Park. That is where a detention basin would be constructed.
"This additional storage will benefit the park area by eliminating the extended time it takes for stormwater to drain from the playing fields during/after heavy rain events," the village's website said.
According to the website, a storm sewer would be built in Ridgewood to drain into Flagg Creek. And new storm sewers and storm inlets are planned for the Longmeadow Lane, Maple Lane and Park Lane intersections.
