What Should Go in the Former Breen's Cleaners?
The former Tischler's building gets more attention, but its smaller sister building, that also appeared in the major Hollywood film "Contagion" as a bank, also needs a tenant.

Quick note before we start this week: a huge thank you to everyone who has left thoughtful and fantastic comments on our first two Visions for Vacancies articles (the and .) There were some really great ideas put forth on both, and we certainly hope some lurking aspirant picks up on one of them for a business, and soon!
The Breen’s Cleaners & Launderers at 4453 Wolf Road closed sometime around 2004; since then, the building has been vacant, its only bright moment coming in late 2010 when it as the “Lake City Mutual” bank broken into by looters. ()
Western Springs Director of Community Development Marty Scott said that the free-standing building could be quite versatile and open to several different types of businesses, from another dry cleaner’s to a dentist’s office to even an ice-cream shop.

Realtors for NAI Hiffman did not respond to request for comment this week, but their website does have complete information on the building, highlighting the location’s “ample parking” and “great visibility” (both definitely true.) The building is available for lease or for outright sale.
This is a staple high-profile building for Western Springs, one that pretty much anyone driving through town is going to see, so don’t take this task lightly: what would be a great business to represent our Village here?
