WHEATON, IL — A man who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman near the Illinois Prairie Path in 2018 has been sentenced to 66 years in prison.
Robert Davison, 45, was convicted on 12 counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault following a three-day jury trial in January 2024.
Police were called to the DuPage PADS at 12:30 a.m. on May 18, 2018, after a woman was seen screaming for help. When officers got to the scene, they say the woman had cuts and scratches on her upper body and dirt on her face.

After an investigation, prosecutors say police learned that Davison had demanded sex from the woman as she was walking near Illinois Prairie Path. Davison is accused of then grabbing the woman by her hair, dragging her into the woods, and sexually assaulting her.
Davison was arrested on May 20, 2018, and has remained in custody at DuPage County Jail since then. He was also linked to the sexual assault of a woman that took place in Oak Park just over a month before the May 18 incident.

“Sexual assaults are degrading and among the most invasive crimes a victim can be forced to endure,”DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
Berlin added, “Physically and emotionally, the damage caused by a sex crime can fester, leaving victims to suffer not only at the time of the assault but possibly for years to come. I commend the Wheaton Police Department for their outstanding work in identifying Mr. Davison as the man responsible for the horrific sexual assault of an innocent woman. I thank the Oak Park Police Department, particularly Investigator Brian Kaniecki for their assistance and cooperation in holding Mr. Davison responsible for his actions."
Davison is required to serve 85 percent of his 66-year sentence before he becomes eligible for parole.
