Burglar Swipes $3K In Cash From Car Parked In Driveway On Main Street

Police say the burglary took place on Dec. 20 or Dec. 21.

WHEATON, IL — Cash was stolen from the center console of a car while it was parked in a driveway in the 500 block of Main Street in Wheaton.

Police were called to the home around 8:20 on Dec. 21 for a vehicle burglary report. The victim told police he parked his car in the driveway on the evening of Dec. 20 and returned the following evening to find the vehicle had been burglarized.

According to a police report obtained by Patch via a FOIA request, $3,000 was stolen from the car's center console, along with debit cards. Children's toys were also taken from the car's backseat, the police report said.

The victim told police it's likely his car had been left unlocked.
