Deputies Increase Patrols For Holiday Safety Initiative In DuPage Co.

The holiday safety campaign will begin Dec. 13.

DUPAGE COUNTY — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) will ramp up patrols ahead of New Year's for its annual holiday safety campaign.

DCSO recommends the following tips to stay safe this holiday.

  • Designate a sober driver
  • Use a rideshare service
  • Call a taxi
  • Wear your seatbelt
  • Report impaired drivers
  • Don't let friends drive drunk or impaired

"This season, let's make safety our shared priority," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement. Mendrick added, "If you plan to drink or use impairing substances, plan ahead for a sober ride home. Driving impaired isn't just dangerous. It's unacceptable. We'll be out in full force and no excuses will be accepted."
