Ex-Cop From Glendale Heights Accused Of Misusing Village Credit Card
Mark Garcia, 37, was indicted on five felony counts.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A former Glendale Heights police officer is facing felony charges after he was accused of using a village credit card illegally.
Mark Garcia, 37, who was charged with official misconduct and theft, was released after turning himself in on June 14.
Garcia "used a WEX Fuel gasoline card issued by the Village of Glendale Heights for employment purposes to pay for gasoline for personal use," per an indictment. Garcia is accused of using the card between mid-February and early April.

“It is indeed troubling when someone entrusted with upholding the law is accused of breaking it,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
“I would like to stress, however, that the charges against Mr. Garcia are not indicative of the honest, hardworking, professional men and women of the Glendale Heights Police Department. In fact, members of the Glendale Heights Police Department are responsible for bringing this matter to our attention and for that I commend them."

Garcia is set to appear in court on July 11.
