Feedback Sought On Building Code Amendments In Wheaton
The city is proposing an update to bring its current building codes up to date with the International Code Council.
WHEATON, IL — The City of Wheaton is asking residents for feedback about proposed changes to its building code. The changes will amend the current city ordinance to meet updated standards set by the International Code Council (ICC) and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
The proposed changes cover such details as fire areas, alarm signals, requirements for fire alarms systems and more. Additional changes cover safety requirements for automatic sprinkler systems, underground wiring and energy storage systems.

The proposed changes will be up for a first reading at the Jan. 21 Wheaton City Council meeting, with council members set to vote on Feb. 3.
