WHEATON, IL — As the Gary Avenue Improvement Project begins, crews will start by removing trees to make way for utility poles.

The work will focus on the stretch of road between Jewell Road and Harrison Avenue. Drivers are advised to use caution during this initial phase of work, which is expected to take roughly a month.

Upcoming repairs to Gary Avenue are set to include pedestrian lights at Prairie Avenue, crosswalks marked with stripes and new traffic lights. Additionally, crews will widen the street near Prairie Avenue.
