Over A Dozen Drivers Ticketed For Speeding In DuPage County Crackdown
The DuPage County Sheriff's Office took part in a statewide safety campaign during the Thanksgiving holiday.
DUPAGE COUNTY — More than a dozen drivers were ticketed for speeding amid increased patrols by the DuPage County Sheriff's Department during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Deputies took part in a safety campaign related to the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" initiatives.
Officers ramped up patrols Nov. 22 through Dec. 2 and issued the following citations in DuPage County:

- 13 speeding tickets
- 10 tickets for using electronic devices
- 1 ticket for improper safety restraint usage
- 13 citations for miscellaneous violations
"We issue tickets to remind drivers and passengers that seatbelt use isn't a suggestion, it's the law," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.
He added, "This year's campaign was successful in grabbing people's attention with highly visible enforcement methods."
