Semi Hits Building, Catches Fire After Crash In West Chicago

The two-car crash also involved a car that hit a tree before the semi struck a building near the intersection of Harvester and Powls Roads.

WEST CHICAGO, IL — A semi hit a building and caught fire in West Chicago Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the West Chicago Fire Protection District. Officials say the building was hit after the semi was involved in a crash with a passenger car that hit a tree.

The crash took place near the intersection of Harvester and Powls Roads.

Per the news release, the occupants of the car and semi got out uninjured. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze quickly, but the crash caused damage to some utilities in the building.

As a result, the building was deemed uninhabitable and crews are working to repair the damage caused by the crash.
